I just happened to be watching the World of Outlaws world finals Sat night on Speed, when the commentators mentioned that Daryn Pittman and Jason Meyers would end up in a tie for 4th in final season points. With the tie going to Pittman because he had 6 wins compared to Meyers' 5 wins! Imagine that! Shouldn't 10th place in the 600 class be settled the same way??? Thanks, Carl
I'm sure the WoO rule book probably identifies most wins as the tie-breaker. I assume you've got Nov. 6th, Nov 18th and Dec 5 marked on your calendar, so you can help us continue to evolve the NMSA rule book as a governing body that promotes both competition and sportsmanship.
Since our Club rule book doesn't appear to address tie-breakers, and since there are many conceivable methods of determining a tiebreaker, it would seem logical to me that if two drivers accumulate the same amount of points in their rookie season, the result is: A tie for rookie of the year. 2 trophies, 2 names in the book, go get em next year.
That is exactly right. We do have a tie for rookie of the year and there has been two trophies ordered. Just like in all the voted awards if there is a tie we order two trophies. Brandy
Thanks for the responses ......but I am not talking about a voting award, or a popularity contest, for which there is no basis to break a tie. I am talking about an 'EARNED' position in the top 10. On the race track there are no ties, you win or you don't, and the points are a reflection of that (or at least they should be). There are simple, logical ways to break a tie. Giving the 21 car 10th place for the year based on his points position from the previous race is absolutely rediculous. I am not trying to attack anyone, and I can certainly handle losing, as long as I believe I lost fairly. As for 'Rookie of the Year' or should I say "rookies" of the year, 2 trophies? OK.....whatever. Takes a bit of the prestige out of it don't ya' think. These are contested positions fought for and won on the track and in the pits. Thanks, Carl

Deming Speedway is doing it the right way (according to the RULE BOOK)

Thanks for the comments, but I've been through the Deming rulebook front to back a few times, nothing in it about tie breakers. I assumed it would be settled like everywhere else on the planet. And if you read my comments at the top again the dispute at the moment is for 10th place. 33 = 803 points with 2 wins vs 21 = 803 with 0 wins. There was no need to go to points from the night before to settle a tie.....it really wasn't a tie if you base your points system on racing performance rather than popularity. And I was at a Sunday club meeting at Alfys pizza with Paul Lemley and Mr. Brown a few weeks ago, sorry I can't make'em all. Thanks.... Carl

Points System and Incentive Fund
10.0 Rookie of a class will be the driver that has collected the most points in the racing season for that class but has not raced more than 4 races in that class in the previous year.
10.1 All completed sanctioned races will count toward the point fund. Did one car pass the other in points ?
LOL .....You guys sure are persistent. Once again you revert back to the rookie chase!...... You're giving 2 cars a trophy....I GET THAT! Geez..... THE 33 CAR SHOULD STILL BE IN 10TH! Thanks, Carl.
