Question For Everyone

I am curently in the Millitary and am deployed to Kirkuk, Iraq. I will be getting out of the Army when I return. I have been stationed at Ft.Drum NY and have become a huge fan of the North East Dirt Modifieds. I really want to race and would like to race a dirt modified car. I grew up in Whatcom County and plan on returning when my time is up, but i have been unable to find a dirt track that races modifieds in WA. If anyone has any info it would please let me know. I will hopefully be on leave in April and plan on going to a few races to check out the Sprints!!!!

The closest I'm aware of would be the IMCA style modifieds at Gray's Harbor, though they are definitly not the same as your east coast big block cars. While the rest of the country continues to see growing fields of non-wing sprinters, late modelds, and modfieds, the NW seems stuck in a winged sprint rut.

At the small scale level, I'd like to see these: http://xcelchassis.com/ .  It looks like they've done a pretty fair job of keeping them relatively authentic looking, and established rules that should keep costs lower than their 600 micro sprint cousin (steel shocks, 4 coil suspension, small/hard compound spec rear tires). Plus its not just another winged sprint car.

I helped pit for a sportsman car at CanAm Speedway. The car is at www.shopatmusa.com. There was a Mini Mod class which is very similar to the XcelChassis Cars, but there was only a field of about 4-5 cars weekly. The IMCA mods are pretty big on the east coast as well. I am going to come home and talk to some people to see if i can afford to get into a sprint car. I really don't know a lot about a winged sprint car but know I want to race something. With fuel prices going up haul distance is also going to be a factor in the class that I choose. Thanks for the response!!

This class would be awesome to have at deming ,since the 600 class is growing ,it would be more fun to race instead of 40+ cars trying to get 12 spots in the A , just a thought for the deming crew to investigate ????

The Mini Mods or Mod Lites also have a 1200 version. I know at the Brewerton Speedway, NY they have a 20-30 car field of the 1200's. They really put on a show. I have seen them on a half mile down to 3/8 mile tracks. I bet it would be even more exciting at Deming. Some Pics at www.brewertonspeedway.com class is Mod Lites.
