I am pretty sure the single file resart has saved most of the 600 owners some money. That said it also has been helping the nights show not go on so long. i strictly remember racing in that class last year and having to do restart after restart because people are even trying to win the race from last place going into turn #1. With the single file restart it gives more space to race instead of everyone slamming on there brakes pretty much from the flag stand till comin out of turn #2.
Once again the anonymous posts are not gonna get anyone any where so just put a name in there instead. . . . .
The whole "might as well jump the start thing". . . well that is probably the stupidest thing i have ever heard! explain how jumping the start and losing 2 spots will be better than just starting right........... dosent sound very appetizing to me. I dont know about everyone else but i would rather be starting the restart myself and starting in the front instead of trying to chase the fornt runnig cars down.
Im with Westy on this one. We did have ALOT of late night last year, it gets hard on everyone when we are having restart after restart. When they announced we were doing single file restarts for the 600's this year I didnt like the idea and thought we were turing into skagit. But so far ive been proven wrong. We are getting done fairly early compared to last season. If a recall correctly it was at least 1030 by the time we were done everything last year but this year i think we only had one late night at the beginning of the season which we are garenteed to have. The right call was made on this.
Post your name!
Jumping the start isnt going to get you far. As they said at the beginning of the season at the first pit meeting when the single file restarts was brought up they said that they were goign to play it by ear. If you all improve and quit jumping, ruining for the other cars that dont jump because they know better, who knows you may be lucky enough to go back to double file. Think about it. Prove you can do it.
only thing i dont like about the single file restart is the cone, when the track is green, you race, not wait till you pass a cone then race. Its just frustrating when you restart in last, and the leaders have half a lap on you before you can pass. Im sure Paul is up to any suggestions you have, so instead of posting threads like this run your ideas by Paul, he might like them Jerrod
We're in agreement as well that the single file restarts have taken the word "racing" out of it . . . its become 25 laps of hot laps - not worth the price of admission. Who ever is in the front - will win. Why don't we just save on fuel and award the trophy after qualifying/heat races?
Since when are the starts and restarts the only opportunity to pass??? Going by your logic, maybe we should just race one lap. Cause after that no one passes, right? I don't know about you, but I've seen plenty of races where the winner isnt determined until the final lap, which is in most cases the 25th lap... not the first. Sure... the single file restarts are an adjustment, and maybe they arent whats best, but thats what the officialls thought would work best, so give it a try.
As much as the single file restarts have felt like a follow the leader race some nights... I will agree on that, as does the group of fans sitting around my area...
I will say that it has cut down on the big wrecks into turn one... I video every race... I could easily show alot of the money spent from the last years tapes and why were single file restart this year. I have probably at the least 10 really bad multiple car money spending restarts. -- IN THE 600 Stock alone. --
Most of it being from someone up front going balls out into corner 1 on the restart to try and beat everyone down the straight and then stomping the brakes to get around the turn.. while behind taht car was a wadded up group of angry people.
??? Not a big fan of the single file restart, but the racing fund sure does appreciate it.
Reading this thread, I have to reply. First of all, single file restarts were brought on by the drivers. Nobody wanted to go with it, but something had to change. It seems like all (or most) 600 drivers want the bottom so as we have all witnessed, it turns into a big time cluster going into turn one on restarts, thus multiple restarts and torn up epuipment. I for one hate the single file deal, but it has definately saved cars and time. Drive with your heads and a little patience and maybe things will go back to the way they were. Also for the" anonymous" poster who is talking about thinking it would work better to jump the start, you will be one of the reasons for keeping it single file. First off, you don't just get docked 2 spots, it's how ever many you jump, and if the race goes green to the end and you take the checkered first, you now get docked however many spots and could end up wherever. That doesn't make much sense now does it?? There has been some excellent racing so far this year and I'm sure it will carry on throughout the season. We have some really good quality drivers out there and there are also quite a few rookies that are still learning which requires, heads up and patience. Now let's all get along and have a blast! Stuff happens but we can all get past that. Also I would like to thank all the drivers and crews for the entertainment I've seen so far and all that I am going to see in the future. I appreciate it big time!! Laura
i have been racing at deming a long time and have to agree that the single file restarts SUCK! I have talked to alot of drivers that have been racing up there for as long or longer than me and they also agree. I think all it does is make every body more despret on all the starts. if you start up front you will probaly finish up front. 600s are to equal for this. it does take all the racing out of it. Ive raced in all the classes at deming and the long races are ussaly due to a few cars that keep causing the yellows, that shouldnt afect the cars that can race hard the hole night with out causing a yellow. That being said all the classes have nights were the races take forever. so why just the 600s. why dont we just take a class vote so we can go back to standard deming starts. 600s are not like the skagit cars they dont have enough power to make up for the streched out feild. i guees every body has there own opinion but theres mine. P.s. pushing cars around 3 and 4 on starts doensnt help any body, when people are on my rear bumber on starts i will go slower! FYI
Agree with Kyle's comments. Sad to say that the 600 class has become rather boring this year. Like Kyle said - they do not have the power like the big cars at Skagit. And the class is just too tight - for instance, take this last weekend (05/23), there is only 0.219 seconds separating 1st place to 10th place in qualifying. So all pretty even power-wise. Very hard to have a race when all are so even.
Too bad we have to punish all for a wreckless few . . .
open cam rule?? i was wondering about that...hmm anyhow back to the subject i like side by side hard core racing down the straights..on the other hand i have noticed the front three finishing in the top three..if they are not taken out by the guy who was trying to win the F-ing daytona or something! whats that about? DUDE CALM DOWN!! hey so kind of a toss up for me i could care less either way...single or double
So if everyone is so even with horsepower wouldnt that rely on the driver to be able to handle the car in a way to drive themselves to the front? That is what makes if fun, when one car doesnt completely overpower the rest. Fans dont want to see a runaway with the fastest cars every weekend, they want to see a battle for the lead and a tight pack of cars running around the track.
ya the better driver should always have a shot. butt its pretty hard to get around guys on a one lane track, specialy if the cars your trying to get around almost spin out every corner, thin cut across the track in front front of ya, but i guess some how that all of our faults! ya right! like ive said lets just take a vote cause im pretty shure we all no what it would be. IF YOU CANT HANDLE SIDE BY SIDE RACING THEN YOUR IN THE WRONG SPORT!!!!!!!!!!!
I definitelyagree with Kyle's last remark. A good racecar driver, should be able to handle a side by side start. It really isn't that difficult. I can see how this single file stuff saves money, but if people would just stop trying to win the race in the first turn, things would improve dramatically.
Kyle said something about its hard to pass people on a one lane track...Deming is NOT a one lane track its only for the first couple of seconds that you cant pass. Yeah it sucks but your saving so much money. And if you are a good driver you can make your away to front. Some drivers just need to relax and be patient on the starts and not get all excited. Look at the 1200 class they are much bigger cars then the 600's and they can do it you see drivers working their way all the way from the back. Just relax. Your there to have fun, winning is only a bonus.
I HEAR AND SEE WHAT THE DRIVERS ARE SAYING, BUT THE PEOPLE IT REALLY MATTERS TO ARE THE ONE'S THAT WRITE THE CHECK AND WHEN YOU ARE RACING AT DEMING IT REALLY IS A FUN PLACE TO GO HAVE FUN WITH THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS. WHEN THE YELLOW OR RED CAME OUT YOU MOST LIKELY WERE NOT SIDE BY SIDE WITH ANOTHER CAR.. THE 600 CARS ARE REALLY CLOSE HOWEVER I DO KNOW TO THOSE THAT KNOW HOW TO SET A CAR UP YOU ARE A LITTLE FASTER THEN THE OTHER. ENJOY THE RACING HAVE A LITTLE FUN KICK ALITTLEASS, GO A LITTLEDEEPER ..SIGNED ROBIN
