RULES CHANGE MEETING DATE (and minutes from October club meeting)

NMSA members,

The rules change meeting has been scheduled for Saturday, November 21st at 2:00 PM.  The meeting will be held at the same location as the banquet (Burlington Cotton Tree Inn - Cascade Ballroom).  Please mark your calendars and be prepared with your 2009 rulebooks and written rules change proposals.

The abbreviated minutes from our 10/13 club meeting are as follows:

-Treasurers report provided (accepted by members in attendance)
-Motion was made (and passed unanimously) to donate $1000 and all proceeds from this years raffle at the banquet to Travis Rutz & Family (in lieu of our annual holiday donations/giving)
-Held some discussion on potential rule change ideas and Paul shared what he would like to see for the 2010 season:

  Jr. Sprint: no specified changes
600R: same rules as today (stock rev-box and motors) with potential claimer
600: Allow cars to compete with rules as-is today, but also enabling teams to run open heads and modified rev-box.  If they choose to make these modifications they would have to carry some additional weight and run a spec tire(790lbs weight minimum and spec 48 compound right rear tire).  Stock bottom-ends on all motors.
 1200: no need for change

-Paul mentioned he has intention of improving tech procedures for 2010 season with a more consistent tech program.
-Discussed potential motor tech and seal alternatives for the 600 class
-Discussion about the club adopting Deming Speedway rules as our rules (increasing the track promoters discretion of what the rules will be)
-Paul said purse will likely be increasing for 600 and 1200 class in the 2010 season
-Randy Wood won the tire draw

-HELP NEEDED: asking all members to help collect / provide donations for the banquet raffle to help raise funds for donation to Travis Rutz & Family

We encourage you all to attend the rules meeting so you can provide your input and help influence the rules adopted by the track/club for the 2010 season.

Thanks,

Eric Turner

Cam,

The rule book states the procedure for rules changes and voting.  Anybody who paid for a pit pass can vote on general rules, but the class rules can only be voted on (1 vote per NMSA registered car) by the members of that class.   With that said, there is some question (at this point) as to whether the club will continue to manage and enforce the rules, or if those responsibilities will be assumed by Deming Speedway.  In either case, your opportunity to voice your opinion and share any written proposals you have is at the meeting on the 21st.

Thanks,

Eric Turner

just a sugestion..and ill be at the meeting. But it would be nice to incorporate the "same" rules as the other tracks like in california so when they come up here there are no suprises and it kinda makes sense.  Its simple not sure If anyone has looked at the other motor rules but for a stock motor stock box its 750...very fair and for an open motor its 785 with a rr tire that DUROMETERS at 48..NOT a compound of 48 which is hrd as a rock..maybe thats a amercan racer number?? 48?? typically run a D-28 or a D-24 hoosier that durometers at no less then 48..I know that a D-50 is so hard you could run 100 laps on pavement and would NEVER work on deming clay. would hate to set such a hard tire compound as a rule. guess Ill wait till the meeting to confirm what has been talked about. see you then and cant wait for the banquet..   Thanks JR Thomas 96t
