Paul Lemley has asked that I make this post on his behalf:
There have been some concerns regarding the amount of time a driver/car is given when they cause or are involved in a race stoppage and must go to the pits for repair.
There has been no official rule & it has been thought to be somewhat subjective but in general the driver of a car involved in a race stoppage that required repairs was given the amount of time that it took for the line-up to be good .
The issue that some have had with this rule is that there is often times a significant difference in the amount of time because the line-up is sometimes correct very quickly.
To address concerns the following rule will take effect immediately and until further notice (this rule will be subject to review by the track and may be amended as necessary):
RULE: Cars involved in a race stoppage will be allowed to enter the pits for repairs and will be granted 3 minutes from the time the race was stopped to complete repairs and return to the track.
Paul will cover this topic at our next pit meeting and may designate a "work area" etc. but wanted me to post this topic so the word would start getting out in advance.
Thanks, Kelly

Three minutes is a really long time if you think about it..I remember when you got three laps..that was pretty nice..Time out on your watch three min..Thats way more then enough time to change a whole rear end..I can see three laps going back into effect..Enough to get repairs done. We changed a whole front end out in three laps of caution back in the day. Just my thoughts

It said 3 min. from the time the race stops, not 3 min. to fix your car. By the time you get in the pits that 3 mins could be down to not to much time. Count 3 min when you are in your car on the track broke down and cant move oops that didnt take long. Hahahaha.
