I wanted to let everyone know that were having the 1st Annual Christian Stover Memorial race at Perris Auto Speedway on August 28th along with the USAC 410 sprint cars. Were paying $1,000.00 to win and a fast time dash for cash! We will throw the rule book away for this event, as long as we have a great time and good car count. Our little buddy would have liked to have been racing in both classes this night and had a smile on his face to see everyone, just having fun! Please follow the www.californialightningsprint.com web-site Pit-chatter for more details. www.christianstoverfoundation.com . Please post this everywhere you can, on your respected web-sites and we hope to see everyone there! I miss racing with all of you guys and girls and hope all is going good! Maybe one of these days I can make it back up there.
Check out the links below for some of the Lightning sprint web-sites across the west coast and the most notable site for all of the lightning sprints (minisprint racing web-site)
I cant wait to see everyone and be back into the racecar again.
GANSON WINS AT PERRIS - $1,000.00 TO WIN CHRISTIAN STOVER MEMORIAL UP NEXT!
(AUGUST 17, 2010, LAKESIDE, CA)Donnie Ganson got behind the wheel of a California Lightning Sprint Car for the first time in over 3 ½ years and led ever lap of the main event last Saturday, August 14th, at Perris Auto Speedway.Next up on the CLS schedule will be the 1st Annual Christian Stover Memorial at The PAS on August 28th.That race will pay $1,000.00 to win.
Arriving at the track with intentions on watching and not driving, Ganson, who is now a regular in the VRA 360 Sprint Car Series, jumped at the chance when he was offered the ride in Seth Kramers potent #12.The veteran racer begged and borrowed all of the safety equipment, including Seth Wilsons firesuit, so he could compete in the race, which was conducted without wings on the tight PAS inner quarter mile track.
The original try to start the 20-lap main was deemed sloppy and waved off by officials.Going down the back straight as cars slowed down, Karl Von Yokes and another car got together sending Von Yokes into a series of violent flips. The Lakeside driver crawled from his battered racecar uninjured, but his night was over.
The second try to start the 20-lapper proved to be much better.Ramonas Bobby Bender, who leads the series with five main event wins, rushed from the pole into the lead at the drop of the green flag.Ganson, who resides in San Bernardino, was second from the outside of the front row on the start and Spring Valleys Jarrett Kramer was third.
Benders lead was short lived as Ganson relieved him of the top spot as they exited turn four on the first go round.Once he was out front Ganson stayed at the point the entire 20-lap distance.
Bobby Bender maintained the second place spot until he went wide in turn two on the third circuit. That allowed Kramer and series point leader A.J. Bender, who like his older brother also lives in Ramona, to sneak underneath for second and third.Bobby took the third spot back from his brother on lap five, but showing no respect, his younger sibling relegated him to fourth on the 13th lap.
A couple yellows late in the race the last one with two laps to go bunched up the field, but nobody could get around the veteran Ganson. At the finish it was an elated Ganson closely followed by Kramer.A.J. and Bobby Bender finished third and fourth respectively with San Diegos Tim Moody in fifth.
Earlier in the evening, Kramer and A.J. Bender won the six lap heat races.
The CLS will take this Saturday off as competitors prepare for the August 28th Christian Stover Memorial at The PAS.The winner of that race will take home a $1,000.00 and there will be a $200.00 to win three-lap Dash for Cash for the four fastest qualifiers. In addition, the CLS will be auctioning off a pair of bicycles (one for a boy and one for a girl) and all of the money raised will go to the Christian Stover Foundation. The CLS stars and cars will be competing in front of one of the biggest crowds of the year on the 28th as they are teaming with the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars on the doubleheader program.

USAC CRA SPRINT CARS, STOVER MEMORIAL FOR LIGHTNING SPRINTS, FOCUS MIDGETS AND USAC YOUNG GUNS SATURDAY AT PERRIS!
(AUGUST 24, 2010, PERRIS, CA) The Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars will return as part of a quadruple header program that will also include the Christian Stover Memorial for the California Lightning Sprint Cars, USAC Ford Focus Midgets and the USAC Western Dirt Young Gun this Saturday night, August 28th, at Perris Auto Speedway. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM and the first race will be at 7:00. Saturday is a military night at The PAS and any current military member with proper id will be admitted for $5.00.
Most eyes in the grandstands and the pits will be on Temeculas Mike Spencer and Riversides David Cardey on Saturday. As the 2010 season is about to enter the homestretch, Spencer, who will celebrate his 29th birthday next Wednesday, is trying to lengthen his advantage as he seeks his third consecutive USAC/CRA championship. Heading into Saturdays race at The PAS, the Cal Poly Pomona engineering graduate holds an 80-point advantage over Santa Marias Showtime Danny Sheridan in the 2010 championship points race. Spencer was fourth at the series last race at Santa Maria Speedway two weeks ago and Sheridan was ninth.
Cardey, who is confining most of his racing to The PAS in 2010, is seeking to set The PAS USAC/CRA and the all-time USAC/CRA record for consecutive wins on Saturday. Tony Jones, who resides in Orange, set the current PAS record of four in a row in 2008. Cardey tied that record on July 31st. In addition to The PAS/CRA record, Cardey, Jones and Concord native Damion Gardner are tied for the all-time series record of four in a row. In 2005, Gardner knocked off four successive wins from April 30th through May 21st at The PAS (2), Ventura and the now defunct Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix.
Yorba Lindas Blake Miller, the 2006 USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year, won the Santa Maria race over Ojais Troy Rutherford and three-time Budweiser Oval Nationals Champion Bud Kaeding of Campbell. After a slow start to the 2010 season, Miller has fought and clawed his way up to fourth in the Amsoil USAC/CRA standings and is only 13-points behind Venturas Cory Kruseman. The Santa Maria win was Millers second of the year with the first coming at Tulare in May. The 23-year-olds last win at The PAS came on May 23rd, 2009 in the annual Salute to Indy.
The California Lightning Sprint Cars will contest the 1st Annual Christian Stover Memorial on Saturday night. Stover won a Lightning Sprint Car main event at The PAS when he was just 14-years-old. He went on to race in the USAC/CRA Series, VRA Sprint Cars and winged cars in Northern California. Stover was 16 when he lost his life in an ATV crash on April 1st, 2009.
Nick Carlson and Casey Martinez, who won their respective main events in the USAC Ford Focus Midgets and Western Dirt Young Guns Series the last time they appeared at The PAS on July 31st, are both expected to be back in action this Saturday on the tracks inner quarter-mile.
